Third Grade Update

Book Fair

Dates and times for the upcoming PTO Book Fair are: November 10, 11, 12, 13  (11:30a.m. - 3:00p.m.)  November 16, 17, 18  (11:30a.m. - 3:00p.m.) November 19  (1:00p.m. - 6:00p.m.) Volunteers are needed to assist students browsing and purchasing books.  If you'd be willing to help out with the Book Fair, please contact Sherry Brinks at sherrybrinks@gmail.com or 825-2021. Thanks for supporting your PTO!

Third Grade Update

Attendance If your child is going to be absent, please call the office and let them know that they are excused. Cooler Weather Please be sure that your child is coming to school with the appropriate clothing for the weather conditions. We don't have jackets, mittens, and gloves to lend out if your child doesn't bring these items with them. They will still have to go outside if the weather permits. Progress Reports Progress reports went home with your child on Friday, October 9th. Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school! Thank you to all the parents and students that stopped by to visit our classrooms during the Open House on Tuesday. It was such a pleasure to meet you! School begins at 8:05 am and is dismissed at 3:00 pm daily. Breakfast in the classroom (free to all K-5 students) begins at 7:55 am in the classroom. Lunch for the first day of school will be: Chicken Nuggets Hash Browns Broccoli Pardon the mess as the auditorium construction continues in the large parking lot on the East side of the school. Students will still be coming in to the school at the East end. Parent pickup in the afternoons will continue to occur in the elementary cafeteria at that end of the school. Bus loading at the end of the day will occur in the semicircle around the playground. All of the mess and the confusion will pay off when we can enjoy our concerts in a beautiful auditorium later this year! Enjoy your Labor Day weekend! Week Of June 1

* Funky Field Day is June 8.  It will start at 12:15 up at the track.  Parents are welcome to come watch. *Last Day Award Assembly June 11 at 10:00.  Parents are welcome to come watch. *June 11 school dismisses at 11:55 * Please remember to turn in homework. *Library Books are due June 5.

Week of May 11

The next three weeks students will be completing important end of the year assessments, such as M-Step (the statewide assessment) and NWEA.  Please make sure your child has a good night's sleep and excellent attendance. Zoo Trip: Thanks to our bookstore, students earned enough to pay for their own ticket to the zoo on May 26.  Please remember to send a sack lunch with your child (only drinks with a screw top lid). Also, most of the zoo is outdoors so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, whatever that may be. Fun To Be Fit: Next Friday, May 22, is our annual Fun To Be Fit.  The activity starts at 1:30...meet us up at the track.  Students are able to leave after the event if signed out at the office. Book Fair: Your child will be browsing books this week and making a wish list.  The following any students who bring in money to purchase books will be returning to the book fair.  

May Update

Mother/Son Rollerdate This Thursday, April 30, from 5:30-7:30 at Skatericity M-Step Testing is coming up on May 18. We are practicing the test in our classrooms. The Scholastic Book Fair is coming up May 14-May 22. It will be open later on Thursday & Friday for those that would like to come browse. Our classes will be visiting the bookstore one day and will be purchasing another. Fun to be Fit is coming up on Friday, May 22. If you are planning on attending, please meet us at the track at 1:30 pm. Field Trip to John Ball Zoo is coming up on Tuesday, May 26. Parent chaperone slips and $5 should be turned in on Monday, May 4.

Week of Feb. 9

Jump Rope For Heart: Tomorrow is JRFH Day! Don't forget a water bottle (with water only), some comfortable clothes, and a positive attitude! Be ready to jump! Father/Daughter Dance: Girls' RSVPs are due Feb. 25th.  If money is an issue, please talk privately with your daughter's teacher. Our Valentines Party will be Thursday afternoon. No school this Friday, Feb. 13, or next Monday, Feb. 16.

Week of January 26

*3rd grade girls brought home a save the date for the father daughter dance.  The Dance is on March 21, from 7 to 8:30. The money is due on February 25. The cost is $15 per daughter/father. *Please turn in your student surveys.  They are due on Friday, January 30. *Jump rope for heart February 10 in the afternoon. *Valentine's Party on February 12. *Parent Teacher conferences February 12. *No School February 13 and 16.

Week of January 5

Native American Dwellings Please remember-- your child's dwelling is due Monday, January 12. Their dwelling (longhouse or wigwam) must match the tribe they're completing their report on in class. Students will be bringing their dwellings home Friday, Jan. 16 after second graders view them. Half Days/End of Marking Period Next Thursday and Friday, Jan. 15 and 16, are half days due to high school exams.  Students will be dismissed at 11:55 a.m.  Students will also be bringing their dwellings home this Friday after second graders view them.  This also signifies the end of the marking period, so report cards will be going home Friday, Jan. 23. Delayed Start Monday, Jan. 19, is a delayed start Monday. Father/Daughter Dance Please mark your calendars, girls! Our Father/Daughter Dance is scheduled for March 21st.  It's always a blast! Lunch Account Balance Parents may now check students' lunch account balances through Parent Connect.
