Weekly Update 10-1-14

Earbuds

We are using our iPads more and more each day. It helps our students if they are able to hear what they are working on when using their iPads. We have some headphones/earbuds, but not enough for each child. If you can, would you please send in a labeled set of headphones/earbuds for your child? Thank you!

Progress Reports

Progress reports will go home next Friday, October 10, 2014. It is important that any missing/late work or fix-it tickets are returned by next Monday, October 6, 2014, so that we have time to modify the grades in PowerSchool prior to our deadline. We would like to stress the importance of making sure that Home Links and other assignments are returned on time. If they are not, your student looses points. If assignments aren't turned in at all, they become zero grades. Third grade is the beginning of your child's grading "career," and as such, we want it to be positive.

Snacks

Please send healthy snacks with your child for snack time. Candy is not allowed to be consumed during this time.

Book-It

The Book-It reading calendar went home with your child this week. Reading at home is so important! Please be sure to set aside some time to read with your child and help them meet their monthly reading goal. If this goal is met, your child will earn a free personal pan pizza certificate for Pizza Hut!

The registration period for McBain Elementary's kindergarten class for Fall 2016 has begun! Your child is eligible to attend school if he/she turns 5 years old on or before  September 1, 2016 .  Please call now to register your child.   231-825-2021 .

Weekly Update 11-12-14

Native American Dwelling Project A note about this project will be coming home with your child on Monday, November 18th.  We have been studying the Native American tribes that lived in Michigan.  At the end of the unit your child will be writing a report about one of the tribes.  They will need to construct a dwelling that their tribe lived in as their homework project. Delayed Start November 17th is our delayed start.  Please remember that school starts promptly at 10:00 AM.  Breakfast will not be served that day. Thanksgiving Break There will be No School on November 27th and November 28th.  Don't forget about the Craft Show on November 29th.  This will run from 9am-3pm. Book-It Calendars November calendars will be due at the end of the month.  The goal for this month is 250 minutes.
