Third Grade Update

Thank you to all of the fathers and daughters that came to the Annual 3rd Grade Father/Daughter Dance. We had a great time and we hope you did too!

Friday is Chip and Dale day for Magical March is Reading Month. That means that we encourage you to dress up like another student so that you can be twins! We hope that everyone is enjoying the Classic Disney themed events here at McBain Elementary!

Friday we are also having a special event with the Irish Dance troupe. They will be performing at 2pm for the entire elementary school.

Next Monday, March 20th, is our Delayed Start. School begins promptly at 9:55am. There will be no breakfast that day.

Running Club applications went home with your child last week. Running club starts on Tuesday, April 11th. Practices are Tuesdays & Thursdays. The club costs $25, which includes registration for McBain's 1st ever Color Run on May 20th! Your registration includes your Color Run bib, color packet, and t-shirt. It's going to be a great event. If you are able to volunteer to coach, Mrs. Sluiter is in need of coaches. Please contact her with questions at 231-825-2021 or check out the McBain PE Facebook Page by clicking HERE.

Please remember to be reading with your child every day. It is so important that you child read at home, even if it is just for 5-10 minutes each night. Reading even that much will help improve their fluency, their vocabulary, and will build skills that will help your child to feel more successful in the classroom. Thank you for all that you do to help your child be their best at school!

Weekly Update 11-12-14

Native American Dwelling Project A note about this project will be coming home with your child on Monday, November 18th.  We have been studying the Native American tribes that lived in Michigan.  At the end of the unit your child will be writing a report about one of the tribes.  They will need to construct a dwelling that their tribe lived in as their homework project. Delayed Start November 17th is our delayed start.  Please remember that school starts promptly at 10:00 AM.  Breakfast will not be served that day. Thanksgiving Break There will be No School on November 27th and November 28th.  Don't forget about the Craft Show on November 29th.  This will run from 9am-3pm. Book-It Calendars November calendars will be due at the end of the month.  The goal for this month is 250 minutes.
